::I found this blog Re: The Florida Trip on New Year's.
What can’t I say, and what can I say about the inaugural FM Music Travel’s Trip to Fort Myers Beach Florida… To be corny I could say, It was the Best of Times, and it was the Worst of Times. I feel like the worst of times was just me personally, and not anybody else… just ask about the comedy that I ended up doing and horrifying some parents… but I think that I horrified just about as many as liked it. I did get many compliments, and for some strangers who have never heard my set before that was pretty exciting.
I had a great time, and I feel so much closer to Heather, Mike, Ben and Bruce. I mean I knew each of them prior to the trip, but I would say I was friends with Heather, and Mike prior to the trip, but more acquaintances with Bruce and Ben. I always feel weird about the nature of relationship to people that I meet when they are working. Like I’m just a bar patron, I can’t really be a friend… but I’m just stupid… they’re all great people lol. I’m calling us friends… if you disagree with that, please comment. We had such a fun time, I’m not a drinker and I rarely party, but I feel like If I’m going to end up on a trip that is very reminiscent of epic Spring Break sojourns to the tropical wasted lands of a Florida Beach that I must to imbibe to get the full experience. By the way OR-G with mountain dew is the best drink ever. I polished off the entire bottle myself. For somebody who hasn’t drank liquor in about 4 years minus a free shot on my birthday, and a free shot bought by the sweet little ukulele player Heather Marie Collins on a Tuesday night country Jam with the MMB… I really don’t drink. So imagine the most wasted that you can be, and still walk that was me on Friday night. I kept it tame on NYE because of taking photos at Rich’s Show, and also Comedy. We were amidst the guinea pigs for future FM Music Road Trips, two random gals who ended up winning this trip for free. Jenny, was a teacher from Kokomo, and Jenni was in training/restaurant management for Cracker Barrel out of Fishers. I don’t think these gals knew what they were in for… but they were great sports, and sweethearts, who blended in well with our bawdy band of pirates. I really felt like I should have taped a radio show when I was picking the tunes for the Explorer 1 which is a a huge trip back to 90s cool in pink, with wood accented interior, leather seats, and the finest of Conversion Vans for it’s hey-day. It’s only a year older than my styling Blazer, Bessie Lou, thusly I treated her with a bit of TLC when driving… It was interesting seeing what quotes will come out of the incessant video, and although I tried to be my charming self, there was only so much I could take of drunk Pixie’s song choices… I swear we listened to the same nickleback song 5 times in a row, and if you k now me, you know that I can tolerate a song thrown into the mix on the radio, but the same song over and over and over just made me want to drive into a telephone pole, or off a beachside cliff. We listened to some great, but obscure music, both attributed to Ben’s Ipod and Mike’s Mac. I think we listened to John Prine for much of the trip. You can hear this guy’s influence on Mike’s music, as well as, his influence on several others… at least I can… but I listen to many styles and types of old country. There was one other obscure dude country guy’s who’s names escape me that sounded a lot like Chris Ledoux, but was in fact not him… and he also had a different song set to the same melody as I swear a Kenny Roger’s song, of which the title escapes me. I apologize for not having these details for you readers. But if you partied like we all did… um yeah you should be amazed that I can put sentences together. We sat in horrible traffic on the bridge into the island, but I was able to get some awesome photos… of course my camera is going on 7 years old in May and I had corrupted files…. I’m sad. But what I did get were awesome. I can't wait to go again! Rich Hardesty's annual sojourn trip to Fort Myer's Beach Florida and the Shipwreck hotel... Yes. It will be awesome. Let's ring in 2013 in huge epic style!
