::Ho-Ho Hoedown at Doc's Musichall with Boogie Matrix and Tonal Caravan... plus a jaunt to see The Mundies.
Boogie Matrix lead guitarist, said “ Let’s Fucking Party!” There was not a soul in Doc’s that didn’t comply with his request.
My night really was a bar-hopping affair bee-bopping between several very awesome musical groups…
The Mundies... keen playing... one thing i noticed that was pretty awesome is that during one of their songs the bassist and lead guitarist turned and played off with the drummer they upped tempo and played frantically with a fervor and this can in my experience only be likened with that one sergeant peppers lonely hearts club song... where is builds and builds and then you climax with a swinging sound.... They play in and around Muncie frequently. This is like maybe the 3rd time I’ve seen them at a local establishment… but the first time I was able to get in on their set.
They finished their set and I hopped aboard the Silo Bus to head to Docs… I was quite the bar hopper tonight J The music on the silo bus is awesome... party rock anthem, with strobe lights lol. Love it.
Off to see my favorite boys Tonal Caravan.
Bryce challenged us to guess the album that their Frank Zappa Cover was from… He would buy a drink for the first person who answered correctly. Apparently it was a trick because the song was on more than one album. I think I’m just bitter because I didn’t know the answer.
Bryce was playing such a gorgeous bright blonde wooden electric guitar... usually he has a real version of my rock band instrument, Fender Stratocaster, at least if I am to believe the sticker on my Rockband Version.
Loved how they just randomly add band members... can you do caravan math? How many musicians will be on stage.? Joining them. Was some banging bongo drums... played by Jason Scott, who I will note, as it was noted to me, is not on facebook.
Thanks for the heads up, because obviously I have to ADD everybody that is in every band because that is my prerogative. Well it is kinda, because that is how you find out about shows, by keeping up with musicians! Duh.
One question that arose is, “ Why is Rage almost always wearing purple?”
And why is Samantha Kay Cooper so freaking cool? I really love how she flits upon the dancefloor and seems to inspire others to get down to the music. She’s just generally so happy and sweet that you can’t help but be in a good mood when she’s around. I Heart Her.
Anyways Back to the Music The song Level 12, which I’m pretty sure is the name of the song, is still one of my favorites… I love that there is a memorable sequence that I can put into words of Doot doot do. (I could be wrong, because my question was what is the name of the song after (song name) and before last song, Oh I think that is, “Level 12”
Hands down I could go on and on about the accolades and raw talent, and creativity of all the boys in Tonal Caravan. They seem to be very adept at taking emotions and expressing them in music that not only inspires booty shakage, but a very chill inner peacefulness, which relieves all my worries and stress. I don’t know how they do it, but I am glad that they do!
I’m also very impressed that Bryce is a very patient teacher, not only of guitar, but he always answers all of my stupid music related questions, as well as other idiotic things that I ask in general, which I appreciate mucho. Actually I could have asked idiotic questions of any of the boys in TC and I’m sure they would have answered them. They are good guys, and that is why they seem to get booked all the time. Golden stars to them for marketing.
My issue with being a newbie is understanding the difference in instruments, such as picking out the bass player, and distinguishing the rhythm guitar from the lead guitar.
Bryce was kind enough to fill me in that really you have to watch how they play to determine who is rhythm and who is lead. The lead guy will be more active and jump around and his playing will have more movement to it on the instrument, while the rhythm guy will just play more similar motions, and stands a little farther back on stage.
This really helped me to understand the show Boogie Matrix Put on.
IT’s not often that a band inspires boogie with their soundcheck, but from the first few bars came blasting out of the speakers I knew this band was gonna kick some ass.
Their front man, sporting an Orange Crush Tee-shirt opened the show with "lets fucking party"
It seems like many of their songs have a smooth soft intro ease into the songs, just a tease, and then they just kill it. They have some vocals, and some instrumental songs, which all sounded really good. I should be able to chew through their sets and really review it… but I’m lazy, I didn’t stalk them on facebook, but trust me they’re awesome… if they play near you go see them.
By the way got recognized twice as a comedian, which is awesome. I generally had a pretty awesome night… I won’t mention that I ended up spending some time with a really cute boy. Shit I mentioned it… well it’s ok we won’t tell him I did, he doesn’t have internet, a computer, or a facebook account, so I’m confident that unless some asshole with a printer prints this out and hand delivers it to him, that he won’t know. But it was a very nice end to a fun evening… This is all.
